The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pushed up the cost of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one service is from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
